Winner of a Golden Globe Award for the movie Heaven and Earth, and 43rd Grammy Award for Thinking of You and Kitaro is also, recipient of multiple Grammy Award nominations. ,He is revered for his ability to embody the human spirit with music of passion and drama. Kitaro has released scores of albums and sold millions in the U.S. alone during his 33-year career. He continues to merge the finest of Eastern and Western cultures and traditions in his music. This program was originally broadcast on December 17, 2005, and this is the first time streamed, podcast and available for download.
Virato chats with Ashevillian,
Bill Walz,
a teacher of mindful living and consciousness. Academically trained in cultural anthropology and clinical psychology, experientially trained in human potential and transpersonal psychology in the 70’s San Francisco Bay Area, His work for the last ten years has separated from the realm of professional psychology, reflective of his belief that its structures, methods and philosophy are extensions of, rather than an antidote to, the sickness of the contemporary world.
Walz's work has increasingly enfolded the wisdom and practice of Buddhist psychology with the insights of other cultures and Western transpersonal psychology to bring a path for evolving the human psyche towards its full potential. He has created a completely contemporary wisdom philosophy reflecting the healing power of increased awareness, presence and stillness, of mindful living, as the antidote to the flurry, suffering and confusion of the modern ego dominated mind.
Deeply inspired by the mid-twentieth century theologian/scientist Tielhard de Chardin, he believes in the evolution of consciousness as the healing salvation of individuals and human society. He teaches meditation not only as a practice to ameliorate the tension and confusion of contemporary living, but as a medicine, taken to return us to our natural healthy selves. Walz says, "The reintegration of the individual personality with the eternal witnessing ground of our deepest true nature is not just fancy metaphysical language in his work, but a growing living reality."
He became ordained in the Interfaith Church of World Service in 2001 to emphasize the transpersonal, spiritual nature of his healing work. He is also writes a column on consciousness for Asheville's art newspaper, Rapid River. Walz often refers to his teachings and work as The Omega Journey.

Jurriaan Kamp is the former chief economics editor of NRC Handelsblad, a prominent Dutch newspaper, and the co-founder of the international newsmagazine Ode . He has published numerous books in The Netherlands, with his first book published in English entitled, Because People Matter: Building an Economy that Works for Everyone.
A renaissance thinker, Kamp says our economy is focused on growth and profit. In any given business, success is measured by the flow of money, not the interest of the people involved."
In Because People Matter he tells us of better alternatives. Kamp argues that the world economy is not only based on money, but on human choices as well. It is those human choices that can promoted the change necessary to transform our current crisis into a healthier economy that serves everyone. He offers insight on subjects such as a new method of dealing with national income; a world trade based on reciprocity; money without interest; and the liability of shareholders and managers for negligence and environmental damage. Borrowing ideas from prominent economists, Kamp offers a coherent set of conditions for an economy in which it is the people who matter.
This philosophy is also the essence of ODE, which is now published in San Francisco, and the subject of today's interview by Virato.
Virato chats with Jean Marlowe, director of the North Carolina Cannabis Patients Network, NCCPN, and 20 year cannabis activist, and founding director of Patients Out of Time, Denis Petro, MD, Ukiah Morrison, and others about marijuana and what is being done in North Carolina legally and legislatively in terms of its medical use.
irato's guest today says her entrepreneurial journey is one of spiritual growth and enlightenment. She claims that she was sent to earth, in this physical body, to fulfill a purpose. For those familiar with the film The Secret and its companion book, this is the essence of Jen Blackert's philosophy.
She says that until she went through a portal so to speak, her own journey had not led to success. She says she was a fraud. Blackert's definition of insanity is "doing the same thing twice and expecting different results." She says she changed how she was "being" and what she was "doing." "I stopped 'trying' to get clients, and I opened my mind up to all possibilities and that's when I started to do things differently and receive more clients." Blackert says she stopped worrying about money and starting "allowing" money to fuel her business. She stopped trying to make money, and started helping and serving others. Blackert says she completely changed herself inside, and started "being" different.
She says she live by a few simple principles that grow my faith and business consistently and with ease. I joke and say, "I play in the land of conscious creation."
Blackert spent 13 years in corporate America holding executive marketing and Internet marketing positions at large corporations, such as DELL Computers, Emerson Process Management and SIEMENS Medical, in the areas of marketing, advertising, branding, program management and web development.

Blackert has a B.S. in Nutritional Science, and is a Certified Professional Coach, NLP (Neuro-linguistic practitioner), and yoga instructor. She offers a deep bow of thanks to her teachers, Bob Proctor, Wayne Dyer, Caroline Myss, Abraham-Hicks, Jack Canfield, and His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
Virato speaks with Armenian born Eliza Mada Dalian who, separated from her mother at age seven and raised by her father and an abusive stepmother, learned self-sufficiency and strengthening of spirit early on. At age 24, she immigrated to Canada where she soon came across the teachings of the twentieth-century mystics Georges Gurdjieff and Osho. Deeply affected by their words, she left behind her training in education and architecture and devoted herself to the search for truth and spiritual enlightenment.
Years of focused and committed meditation blessed her with several profound experiences, which, she says, led to an ultimate awakening experience at age 33. She says she discovered first-hand the truth all awakened people point to: that we are not our body, mind, pain, and suffering but rather a manifestation of Love, Consciousness, and Cosmic Joy.
This life-altering experience took her some years to integrate into the ordinary world of day-to-day life. What sets Eliza Mada Dalian apart from other spiritual teachers is that she is also a practicing hands-on healer. In the late 1990s, she developed a new healing method which she dubbed the Dalian Healing Method, or DHM, which she says allows people to transform psychological and physical pain into health and expanded consciousness. What sets Dalian apart from other healers is that she is not primarily concerned with fixing symptom, but rather with helping people heal from unconsciousness..
Described by many as a medical intuitive, healer, oracle, mystic, and spiritual guide, Eliza Mada Dalian says she has dedicated her life to helping others towards healing and spiritual transformation. She lives in Vancouver, B.C. Canada.
Virato's guest on Message from Asheville is DeAnne Hampton who uses and teaches vibrational awareness, astute intuition and energetic attunement. A certified teacher of DNA Activation, she has traveled world-wide with her seminars focusing on the principles of a 5th Dimensional World coaching human beings in empowering and transforming life to wholeness.
With a BS in Education, and a MA in Psychology (Magna Cum Laude Graduate) from the University of South Florida, Hampton's professional background began in traditional teaching Grades K-12 and School Guidance Counseling in Tampa, Fl. Coming to Asheville she developed, Supervised and taught The Academy, a self-contained school within a School for at-risk teens. The program expanded to Asheville High School and continues today. She wrote a book about the experience: Inner City Innocence, A Teacher's Journal of Joy and Despair.
Hampton wrote and received a grant to teach music to inner city children as a pilot program to enhance self esteem and improve academics. She piloted an advanced Creative Arts Program participating in bike ride through 5 countries in Europe, Back-packing Across Colorado and New Mexico, Mission Trips as an Educator to Guatemala, Belize and Haiti.
This is from her website. “Many will make the choice to not remain, to transition off the planet either before or during the profound changes to come, rather than to step up and do the work of their expansion now. And of course, this is a choice and there is no judgment. But to realize the New Earth, an expression of the new consciousness of our authentic nature, we must necessarily lift the frequency of all that we choose to engage; bringing light where there is none. If we are living love, joy, peace and harmony in all areas of our life of expression, without attachment of emotional distortion, then we will be carried energetically through all the coming Earth changes and dismantling of current power structures.“
Hampton also speaks “The Shining Ones,” one of many groups of advanced light races, are here to assist humanity through extraordinary changes in the cellular structure and DNA codex of our being. Her new book is called The New Human: Understanding our Humanity, Embracing our Divinity

oday Virato indeed goes outside the box. How does anyone explain a phenomenon that science says doesn't exist and yet does? If you're on the scientific side of the fence, UFOs, (forget about their Alien and human abductee occupants) are "impossible." Their flight defies the laws of our universe, science won't touch the UFO, they simply cannot exist. You may be a "believer" and have accepted the prevailing evidence, or you have a firm conviction because you have either seen a UFO or you know that you have been abducted. Whatever your persuasion, the phenomena of the UFO and the Alien doesn't lend itself to a simple, technological explanation.
Immediately after completing high school Linc Alexander, Virato's guest today, began a forty-five year flying career. He spent two years bush flying in Northern Ontario, six years with the Canadian Air Force, and flying is still very much a part of his life.. Since his teen-age years, Alexander has belonged to an esoteric society where man can learn about and develop latent mystical powers. Alexander also has an avid interest in cosmology, physics, the sciences and astronomy. His new book is entitled UFOs…Alien Thought Machines and is the subject of today's discussion
Virato chats with Joshua Jourdan, a graduate of Berklee College of Music, and host of morning classics on WCQS as well as host of Pathways to the Sacred on WPVM-LP, both non-commercial Asheville radio..
Virato's guest is Ellen Evert Hopman, a Master Herbalist and lay Homeopath who holds an M.Ed. in Mental Health Counseling. She was Vice President of The Henge Of Keltria, an international Druid Fellowship, for nine years. Hopman is a founding member of The Order of the White Oak (Ord Na Darach Gile). She is a Bard of the Gorsedd of Caer Abiri, a Druidess of the Druid Clan of Dana and has been a member of The Order Of Bards Ovates and Druids and of ADF.
Hopman has participated in numerous radio and television programs including the Gary Null show in New York, and presented a weekly "herb report" for WRSI radio, Greenfield, MA for two years. She was a featured subject in a February, 1999 documentary on Druids on A&E Television's "The Unexplained". She has been on the staff of Keltria: Journal of Druidism and Celtic Magick and has been a contributing author to many New Age and Pagan journals.
She is the author of Tree Medicine:Tree Magic, A Druid's Herbal For the Sacred Earth Year, Being A Pagan (with Lawrence Bond), Walking The World In Wonder: A Children's Herbal and her latest, A Druids Herbal of Sacred Tree Medicine.
Virato chats with Sally Erickson and Tim Bennett creators of the documentary,What A Way To Go.
Timothy S. Bennett, Writer/Director, is an artist and filmmaker who began his inquiry into environmental and cultural issues in the 80s. His academic background is in anthropology, religion, education and film. What A Way To Gois his first feature-length documentary. He says his talent for “big-picture thinking,” along with the ability to see through the taboos, denials, and orthodoxies of the dominant culture, combined with his poetic writing style, have created a documentary experience that he feels is both compelling and informative.
Sally Erickson, Producer, is an artist, psychotherapist, community organizer, and organizational consultant. She was born in Washington State where she developed a love of, and commitment to, the natural world. Experiences during the last five years of wilderness vision-questing have deepened that commitment. She and Tim live in rural North Carolina. The mother of two grown children Sally brings maturity, insight, organizational development expertise and inspiration to What a Way to Go.
They say they recently had dinner with Michael Moore, which in itself will be interesting.
Virato speaks with spiritual teacher, Michael MamasMichael Mamas. Mamas attended Ohio State University and was an honors student in physics and mathematics prior to obtaining a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine and a Masters in Business Administration.
However, his life-long search for spiritual wisdom led him on a different path, one that had him study under saints and spiritual teachers from India and around the world. Out of the wisdom and knowledge he gained, Mamas says he derived a powerful and effective approach to health and spiritual growth, one that transcends traditional and alternative approaches.
Awarded the title of Adhyatm Vidhya Visharad (Spritual Master) from Bhagavan Yagnyavalkya Ved Tatavagyan Yogashram, the Sanskrit College at the University of Gujarat, in India, Mamas is the only person who is not a Brahmin, priest, or pundit to ever receive the award, and the only person from the West.
Those who have met Michael Mamas say he dedicates his life to bringing forth a wiser and more refined understanding of spirituality to society. He lectures internationally, offering a variety of programs, and is the developer of Mount Soma, a 360-acre community atop the Blue Ridge Mountains between Asheville and Waynesville, North Carolina.

April Hannah, the film's producer, has had an interest in the metaphysical world since she was a child. She grew up in a home with family members who had natural psychic abilities, and hearing these stories as a child were second nature. She began having her own psychic experiences as a child which later ceased and then re-emerged again in her early twenties. Hannah has a BA from SUNY Institute of Technology, and a
Science in Education MS from The College of Saint Rose She is the founder of Hannah's Healing counseling and holistic healing therapies in Greene County, New York.
Michael Habernig and April Hannah were two separate souls, living 11 miles apart from each other, born in the same year, same month exactly one week apart but brought together in the winter of 2007 to set out on their life's path. They met on a whim of Michael looking for holistic practitioners to be in a documentary about healing and life after death. The first person he contacted was April and the rest was history. They were both on a mission to create a documentary about the souls purpose which then lead into the idea of not only making one documentary but to create a series of 4 DVD's dedicated to metaphysical, healing and paranormal phenomena.
They have been filming and editing their first documentary called The Path-Afterlife for almost a year and are planning on a release date of
February 12, 2009. They interviewed 12 experts in the field of metaphysics, healing and psychic phenomena to discuss the afterlife.
Virato chats with Neal Rogin, a multi-award winning writer and filmmaker whose work has reached millions of people around the world. He scripted a film for rock legend Sting and his Rainforest Foundation. The film, entitled Burning Down Tomorrow, was nominated for an Academy Award as Best Documentary Short Subject. He also received a National Emmy Award for Outstanding Achievement in Writing for Spaceship Earth, a half-hour television special that aired on the Disney Channel.
Rogin is also the co-author of several critically acclaimed books, including The Trimtab Factor, with Harold Willens (Wm. Morrow & Company, NY), The Owner's Manual for Your Life, and You Don't Have to Rehearse to Be Yourself, both with Stewart Emery (Doubleday, New York).
He also played a major role in the landmark LIVE AID Concert for African Famine Relief, which reached more than 1.5 billion people in 160 countries around the world, and was the largest broadcast event in history.
Rogin is Communications Director for The Pachamama Alliance, a nonprofit partnership between people from the modern world and indigenous people of Ecuador, and is part of the development team that has created a day long symposium presented by Pachamama, whic he says, "was to bring forth an environmentally sustainable, spiritually fulfilling and socially just human presence on this planet". Rogin, directed and produced a documentary film for the Alliance entitled, The Eagle and the Condor which highlights the importance of merging ancient indigenous wisdom with our modern technological world view.
His latest film, The Awakening Universe, based upon the book, The Universe Story by Brian Swimme and Thomas Berry, explores how the New Cosmology is changing the very definition of what it means to be a person. It is the subject of much of today's conversation

What is there about the New Age that is feared by so many Christians? Why, when it is nothing but the New Millennium that we have eagerly waited 2,000 years for which was promised by God. Why the fear?
Virato interviews Rev. Keith Bender, the author of several books, one of which is Ark of the Rainbow, the story of his personal quest for truth. He has written scores of articles and was the editor and publisher of Teaching Consciousness, and international newsletter. He is a priest according to the Order of Melchizadek.
Today, Virato speaks with world renown Fritjof Capra, Ph.D., physicist and systems theorist, and founding director of the Center for Ecoliteracy Berkeley, California, which promotes ecology and systems thinking in primary and secondary education.
He is on the faculty of Schumacher College, an international center for ecological studies in England, and frequently gives management seminars for top executives.
In addition to his research in physics and systems theory, Dr. Capra has been engaged in studying the philosophical and social implications of contemporary science for the past 30 years. He lectures widely to lay and professional audiences in Europe, Asia, and North and South America
Dr. Capra is the author of five international bestsellers, The Tao of Physics (1975...over 6 million copies), The Turning Point (1982), Uncommon Wisdom (1988), The Web of Life (1996), and The Hidden Connections (2002). Virato chats with MayaJoëlle, a certified Music for People teacher who has been studying energy healing since 1978. She uses intuitive guidance, Reiki, voice, the DreamWeaver™ (vibro-acoustic mattress combining music and sacred geometry) as well as other modalities.
MayaJoëlle has studied mime, acting, dance and movement at schools in France, Canada and the United States.
Born and raised in Lorraine, France among a family of musicians, she says she was so infused with an early imprint of Joie de Vivre (Joy of Life), that this quality remained through life’s many challenges, and to this day, she says, permeates her lifework.
MayaJoëlle graduated from David Darling’s Music for People Musicianship and Leadership Program in 1993.
Working with David Darling, she says, "was like being back “home” to myself." Many of the creative expressions that were a second nature to me as a child turned into techniques
Since then, she took vocal workshops with Mollie Scott and recently with Bobby Mc Ferrin and his Voichestra and she has led many vocal gatherings worldwide.
Virato's guest today is Susan Elizabeth Hale music therapist, singer and author ofSacred Space, Sacred Sound: Acoustic Mysteries of Holy Place and Song and Silence: Voicing the Soul and Director of the Songkeeper Apprenticeship
With
a Master’s degree in Creative Arts Therapy from Goddard Collage, she conducts workshops in voice throughout the United States, Britain and Canada. A pioneer in the fields of music therapy, creative arts therapy and sound healing since the mid-70’s, she has been at the forefront of exploring music, sound, voice, word and image as healing arts.
Hale
is a trainer in the Bonny Method of Guided Imagery and Music, a Fellow of the Association for Music and Imagery and teacher of Archetypal Psychology, guiding people through mythic realities for personal growth and creative exploration.
She has led pilgrimages to sacred sites in Britain and the Southwest. She says, learn to weave sound and song into your life and work. Become part of the harmony. singing is an ancient tradition, a tonal language to enchant the Earth and create sound community. training in learning how to create toning and song circles, pilgrimages and ceremonies.
It is said that found in ancient sacred sites all over the world, is the Flower of Life, considered to be the basic unit necessary for the creation of all material substance. Today Virato explores the subject with Shari
Billger a Flower of Life facilitator.
When Shari lived in Wisconsin, she lead mass meditations for world peace, love, and harmony, and promoted world-famous authors, including Betty J. Eadie, author of Embraced By The Light.
In her Flower of Life workshops, Billger says she draws on many life-changing teachings and her own personal experiences in corporate America, owning her own successful business,
She says, "New physics has proven that all matter is a field of pulsing energy. Shifting frequencies transforms unconscious, life- depleting responses which underlie pain, sickness, unworkable relationships or other limitations in our lives."
In 2007.the New York Times ran a three -page article on her her work.Billger currently makes her home in Colorado.

Virato's guest today is James Martinez who suggests that a "credit card mentality" is at the core of today's financial woes. That it is all illusion.
Many of you by now have seen Freedom to Fascism by Aaron Russo, Maxed Out by James Scurlock and In Debt We Trust by Danny Schechter became significant educational tools that exposed the tactics credit card companies used. Long before these documentaries were made Martinez successfully participated in eliminating over $700 million dollars of alleged credit card debt over a ten-year period.
He managed to connect with people at The World Bank. International Monetary Fund and Bank of Warburg. This alliance with the help of the public has made this topic the number one concern of America today.
During this time Martinez served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Freedom of Thought Foundation created by world re-known author and hypnotherapist Walter Bowart, author of Operation Mind Control. It was during this time Martinez discovered and studied all the behavior modalities associated with debt consciousness and began to uncover the necessary tools to inspire behavior modification in a generation of tragedy associated with credit card debt.
In a time where suicide, broken families and bankruptcy are common place Mr. Martinez managed to help thousands of families get their life back and see the world with a new perspective and life realization for a better tomorrow. In 2008 Mr. Martinez was placed on the Board of Directors of theMarshal McLuhan Center on Global Communications.

He is also the founder of, and leading contributor to, the internet’s only Peak Performance and Nutrition online magazine: www.thebestdayever.com.
Virato dialogues with
Caroline
Cory, whose experience with the worlds of spirituality and metaphysics started at the early age of five She says that through a spontaneous perception she became aware of a unique, subtle energy in the environment which she calls Source.
Rather than shunning this phenomenon, Cory says she was able to develop it further, and is now capable of perceiving and discerning multiple forms of subtle energy with precision, at a distance and at will. She says this multi-dimensional and expanded consciousness gives her new understandings regarding the human mind and condition, the structure of the earth plane and the nature of reality in relation to the overall cosmic structure of the universe.
Cory created a healing technique that she says allows the spontaneous alignment of the energy field with a higher Universal-Source Frequency and provides a permanent cellular reprogramming of the subconscious mind. She says her method targets the root cause deeply embedded in the subconscious mind and reverses those misaligned belief systems that created your ailment.
She is the author of three books The Divine Plan: Beyond 2012,; God Among Us: Inside the Mind of the Divine Masters, and The Visible and Invisible Worlds of God along with a CD, Connecting To Source.
Virato's guest, today, psychologist and parapsychologist. Lawrence LeShan, born September 8, 1920, in New York City, was educated at the College of William and Mary (B.A., 1942), the University of Nebraska (M.S., 1943), and the University of Chicago (Ph.D.,1954). His education was interrupted on two occasions by periods of service in the U.S. Army (1943-46, 1950-52). Following his graduation he became Chief of the department of psychology at the Institute of Applied Biography in New York (1954-64) and simultaneously a research associate at the Ayer Foundation, Inc., New York (1954-70). He also taught in the Union Theological Seminary's program in psychiatry and religion.
Originally a skeptic in his attitude to paranormal phenomena, he devoted some 500 hours to testing the famous psychic Eileen Garrett and was particularly impressed by her powers in the field of psychometry. He also made a special study of psychic healing and since 1970 has held training seminars in New York for psychologists and students. He is a member of the American Psychical Research Society and the author of a number of books and articles, his latest A New Science of the Paranormal: The Promise of Psychical Research..
In his book The Medium, the Mystic, and the Physicist (1974), he proposed a theory of different types of reality: sensory reality (that of everyday experience), clairvoyant reality (in which the time structure is modified and the identities of "you" and "I" become a part of a total "One" in the cosmos), and a transpsychic reality (in which there is total identification with the "All").

A certain kind of "busyness," says Marc Lesser, is crucial to life, allowing us to earn a living, create art, achieve academic success, and become leaders. But too often, busyness consumes us and we become crazy busy, nonstop busy, 24/7 busy, and we end up expending extra effort that gets us nowhere.
Less is about the benefits of doing less in a world that has embraced more — more desire, more activity, more things, and more exhaustion. It about stopping, about the possibility of finding composure in the midst of activity, about the power of accomplishing more by doing less. The ideas, practices, and programs Lesser outlines offer a radical yet simple approach to transforming a lifestyle based on endless to-do lists into a contemplative, self-nurturing approach that is more productive in every sense.
Virato chats with author Marc Lesser, executive coach, business leader, entrepreneur, and Zen teacher. He is founder and CEO of ZBA Associates, a company that provides leadership and communication coaching to corporations, small businesses, and nonprofits.
Lesser was an undergraduate at Rutgers University when he first realized that he needed to find a way of doing less, not more. He traveled from New Jersey to California and spent the next ten years as a resident of the San Francisco Zen Center and five years living at Tassajara, the first Zen monastery in the West. He develops and leads retreats that combine contemplative and leadership practices for business people, He has taught at Stanford, lectured at Google, and teaches at the San Francisco Zen Center.
He is currently Chairman of the Board of the San Francisco Zen Center and a Board member of Social Venture Network. His first book was Z.B.A. Zen of Business Administration.
After graduating from the Ohio State University with a degree in engineering physics, John Turner, Virato's guest today, continued in graduate school at the Ohio State University, Department of Physics. Three years into the PhD program, he was given a book about Edgar Cayce, The Sleeping Prophet. This changed the course of his life!
He was excited about the existence of a spiritual world and its relationship to the body, and made immediate plans to attend the Ohio State University's
College of Medicine
where he earned his M.D. He completed his internship year in general surgery and his first year neurosurgical residency at Ohio State University, and his remaining four years of neurosurgical training at
The Cleveland Clinic Foundation.
For eighteen years, he served as the sole neurosurgeon on the island of Hawai'i, initially performing life saving procedures with a marginally trained staff and substandard equipment. By all measures, John L. Turner is a surgeon with classic western medical credentials. From his first day on call in Hilo, Hawai'i, metaphysical events appeared for his edification and continue to the present day.
Dr. Turner
is the
author of
Medicine, Miracles, and Manifestations: A Doctor's Journey Through the Worlds of Divine Intervention, Near-Death Experiences and Universal Energy a nonfiction narrative about the surgical career, spiritual quest and evolutionary journey into the field of Integral Medicine.
Over the past ten years, the field of complementary and alternative medicine has generated excitement as the new major source for improved better health care delivery. These modalities are grounded in empirical research and relate to models of human psychology, consciousness, subconsciousness, alternative medicine and Eastern healing therapies.
During his career as a surgeon, Dr. Turner's curiosity drove him to explore several non-traditional healing modalities that broadened the scope of recovery for his patients. These new techniques included the Japanese practice of Johrei as well as chanting and various forms of meditation, soul travel and astral projection and precognition/remote viewing as developed by Hal Puthoff, Ingo Swann and Russell Targ at the Stanford Research Institute
Medicine, Miracles, and Manifestations, is the twenty-year story of Dr. Turner's contributions to the field of neurosurgery through Integral Medicine. The concept of Integral Medicine has been written about by notable members of the medical community, including Andrew Weil, Larry Dossey, Deepak Chopra, Mehmet Oz and Dean Ornish. Each of these writers is a physician who specializes in internal medicine or surgery.
What makes John Turner similar to these writers is that he, too, is a physician. What makes him different from them is that he is a neurosurgeon. In fact, he is the only brain surgeon to write of medicine from this perspective: hand's on use of complementary techniques prior to, during and after surgery, and exploration of pathways that lead to the spiritual world.
The tools of the surgeon normally have more immediate, measurable results on patients' health and well-being. With the opportunity to study and operate on the brain, Dr. Turner was in a perfect position to explore the mind-body connection.
Medicine, Miracles, and Manifestations reveals how metaphysical events such as remote viewing, telepathy, consciousness and life-after-death are verifiable manifestations of the manner in which the human brain interfaces with universal consciousness.

Dowsing is a developed skill which focuses innate human intuition and the body's sensitivity to unseen energies. Sensing those reactions, and making them visible is called dowsing. This morning Virato chats with Paul Bennett, president of the Appalachian Dowsers, who says, in a larger sense, dowsing is an ability to tap into cosmic consciousness where all knowledge exists. "We believe everyone with an open mind has this ability."
Millions of people suffer the pain, fevers, and bleeding of Crohn's disease, colitis, and other incurable inflammatory bowel disorders (IBDs), whose numbers are rising every year. Most are treated with harsh prescription drugs or invasive surgery, that merely mask or postpone the symptoms.
All her life, author Virginia Harper had suffered from the debilitating effects of Crohn's disease. Even with heavy medication, her symptoms persisted, and so she turned to a natural treatment regimen consisting of simple changes in diet and lifestyle. Within a year, she was not only pain-free, but symptom-free. Some twenty years later, Virginia's diarrhea, painful indigestion, cramps and bleeding have never returned.
Since 1990, Virginia Harper has been working full-time to help other people get well. She has made hundreds of presentations on health and recovery to groups throughout the United States counseling thousands. Virginia has been interviewed for numerous newspaper and magazine articles, and has appeared on several radio programs as an expert on healthful cooking and recovery from severe digestive disorders.
Millions of environmentally conscious people in the U.S. are taking steps to live greener lives and reduce their carbon footprints, yet they dismiss concerns about overpopulation because they mistakenly believe we have a "birth dearth" or negative population growth.
Not true! Here are some facts: The US adds a net 6,000 new people every day and is projected to add more than 133 million more Americans in the next generation. The US population will grow by greater numbers than nations like China, Indonesia, and Bangladesh.
Fueled by both births and immigration, the US’s current population of 305 million is exponentially growing despite the warnings from numerous experts who speculate that we are already over-populated by as many as 100 million. Worsening sprawl and traffic congestion, over-crowded schools and hospitals, air and water pollution all attest to the magnitude of the ever-escalating problem. Most troublesome, the US consumes approximately 25% of the world’s energy and as our population increases this global inequity only becomes worse.
Virato's guests today are Virginia Carper and former Senior Vice-President and Head of Drama for the largest independent television production company in Hollywood (Embassy Television, a Norman Lear Production). She serves as a pro-bono training consultant to

In her capacity with Embassy TV, she was awarded an Emmy and two Peabody Awards for her work on the immensely popular American situation comedies All in the Family, Maude, Good Times, The Jeffersons, One Day at a Time, The Facts of Life, and Different Strokes. the top five most highly rated television shows in the United States during the 1980sShe also worked on Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman and All That Glitters. . Among the many movies for television she produced was Eleanor: First Lady of the World, which was voted one of the top ten movies of the year. Carter holds an M.S. in Physics from the University of Southern California and an honorary doctorate of science degree from McGill University.
William Ryerson PMC’s founder and President, has a 37-year history of working in the field of reproductive health, including two decades of experience adapting the Sabido methodology for behavior change communications to various cultural settings worldwide. Today, Virato speaks with Tina Marie, who says she communicates with non-human animals using telepathy, or two-way thought transference.
Animal communication is the process by which impressions, thoughts, images and feelings can be transmitted and received between beings of different species.
She says it is possible to communicate with your dog, cat, horse etc., much the same way you communicate with people.
Tina Marie says she helps humans communicate with their animal companions who may have a behavioral issue, an animal who is preparing to pass or one who is in spirit.
Virato chats with
Virginia Hopkins, best-selling book author and editor of a widely read health newsletter, the Virginia Hopkins Health Watch.
We'll sound off about HR 875, the Food Safety Modernization Act of 2009, which could mean positive change and safer food, or trouble for small
independent farmers. There's been a lot of hysteria and fear about this
bill -- is it justified? Is Monsanto behind it?
Hopkins has been a writer and editor since she graduated from Yale University in 1976. She also has a Masters degree in Applied Psychology from the University of Santa Monica. Hopkins is the author, co-author, or ghostwriter of 30 books on alternative health.
Hopkins says, "Monsanto may be the evil empire, and concern over Congressional Bill HR-875 is justified, but hysteria is not called for and it is not going to make it to the house floor anytime soon —it’s not even in committee yet, and it’s competing for attention with other similar bills. I read the 117-page bill and find there is nothing in there directly or indirectly attacking organic farming or supporting Monsanto’s freaky genetically modified seeds."
Virato's guest, Duane Elgin, is an internationally recognized speaker, author, and social visionary who looks beneath the surface turbulence of our times to explore the deeper trends that are transforming our world. In 2005, Elgin received the Japanese “Goi International Peace Award” in recognition of his contribution to a global “vision, consciousness, and lifestyle” that fosters a “more sustainable and spiritual culture.” In the early 1970s, he worked as a senior staff member of a joint Presidential-Congressional Commission on the American Future.
He then worked as a senior social scientist with the think-tank SRI International where he coauthored numerous long-range, futures studies, such as: Anticipating Future National and Global Problems (for the President’s Science Advisor), Alternative Futures for Environmental Policy (for the Environmental Protection Agency), The Future of the Automobile (for the Ford Motor Co.), and Limits to the Management of Large, Complex Systems (for the President’s Science Advisor).
His books include: The Living Universe: Where Are We? Who Are We? Where Are We Going? (2009); Promise Ahead: A Vision of Hope and Action for Humanity’s Future (2000), Voluntary Simplicity: Toward a Way of Life that is Outwardly Simple, Inwardly Rich (1993 and 1981), and Awakening Earth: Exploring the Evolution of Human Culture and Consciousness (1993), With Joseph Campbell and other scholars he co-authored the book Changing Images Of Man (1982). In addition, Elgin has contributed chapters to sixteen books, and has published more than seventy articles.
He has an MBA from the Harvard, Wharton Business School, an MA in economic history from the University of Pennsylvania, and an honorary Doctor of Philosophy for work in “ecological and spiritual transformation” from the California Institute of Integral Studies, San Francisco, CA.
Over the past twenty twenty-five years, Elgin has co-founded three non-profit organizations concerned with media accountability and citizen empowerment.
As a speaker, Elgin has given more than 250 keynotes and workshops with audiences ranging from business executives and civic groups to churches and college students.

Virato chats with James Taylor, a retired international business executive with a reputation for highly strategic, analytical thinking and "out of the box" perceptions to complex problems. He has demonstrated throughout his career the unique and rare ability for attacking the incomprehensible, and delivering resolve in everyday language anyone can understand. Taylor was Director of Marketing in China for BellSouth International, headed up the Telecommunications Group for Asia Pacific with Unisys Corporation and held the position of Senior Executive with CyberTrust -formerly owned by Price Waterhouse.
His career allowed him access to some of the most diverse cultures on the planet and over the past twenty years has studied the sciences, religions, and spiritual philosophies from around the world. He has lived abroad in China and Malaysia with tours in Turkey, Sri Lanka, Canada and Great Britain. Taylor resides in the North Carolina mountains near Asheville, and currently lectures globally on human energy and the impact it is having on the world.
Today, Virato indeed invites you to step out of the box. His guest today Vara Humphreys says, "Mankind has finally come to a time in history when hidden knowledge and secrets of the universe can be revealed. Knowledge only the ancient Initiates had access to in lost history. Are we ready? Can we use such knowledge for good? And can it be assimilated into our lives?"
Today she shares the secret of manifestation, the secret of levitation, Oversouls and Soul Groups among other things.
Humphries is a Spiritual Healer, Medium and author. She works at Energy Centers, both in the British Isles and abroad.
She has also written the true story of the group work done on 11/1/1992, (and the 9 months of working leading up to it), for the opening of the 11-11 Interdimensional Doorway.
Humphreys is a mother of two boys and a girl, a grandmother to eight, and has a great-grandson. She travels to many different places giving talks and workshops, all linked to the awakening of Soul Awareness.
Since 1994, when Warner Books published The Celestine Prophecy, it became one of modern publishing's greatest success stories. In 1995 and 1996, it was the #1 American book in the world. This phenomenal novel spent over 3 years on the New York Times bestsellers list. It is now in 36 different languages.
James Redfield, Virato's guest today, was 43 when he published The Celestine Prophecy, but from an early age, he was motivated by a need for clarity about spiritual matters. Raised as a Christian, he was nevertheless frustrated by a lack of answers to his questions about the true nature of spiritual experience. As a young man, he studied Eastern philosophies, including Taoism and Zen, while majoring in sociology at Auburn University. He later received a Master's degree in counseling and spent more than 15 years as a psychotherapist.
During this time, he was drawn into the human potential movement and turned to it for theories about intuitions and psychic phenomena that would help his troubled clients. All along, Redfield was forming ideas that would eventually find their way into The Celestine Prophecy. In 1989, he quit his job as a therapist to write full-time, synthesizing his interest in interactive psychology, Eastern and Western philosophies, science, futurism, ecology, history, and mysticism.
He is currently writing The Twelfth Insight, tentatively scheduled for release in early 2010, and next month he hosts a major Celestine Gathering. Both will be a part of today's discussion. Callers are welcome to meet him on the air.

Intuitive
Reflexology
with
Phyllis
Weimar
Foot and hand Reflexology is a scientific art based on the premise that there are zones and reflex areas in the feet and hands which correspond to all body parts.
The physical act of applying specific pressures using thumb, finger and hand techniques result in stress reduction which causes a physiological change in the body. Phyllis Weimar, Virato's guest, says she has added the dimension of intuition to this art, and today tells us how and why.
A resident of Black Mountain, she is a national board-certified reflexologist, and a licensed massage practitioner in North Carolina. She both offers treatment and teaches the art. Weimar has been professionally using her empathic and intuitive talents since 1972
To be really well, we need to understand how our beliefs can make us ill. We don't need to be victims - not of illness, not of injury, not of blind chance. Our minds and intentions, good and bad, directly affect our well-being. When we understand the connection between our thinking and our bodies, we can have control over our health.

Known as an urban mystic and modern visionary, Stuart Wilde has written

and lectured

world-wide. His writings include the very successful Taos Quintet, which are considered classics in their genre. They consist of: Miracles, Affirmations, The Force, The Quickening, and The Trick to Money is Having Some!
Wilde has a humorous and simple way of explaining things that are controversial,
and some
say, self-empowering, mystical and transformational. His way of writing and speaking often
comes with a razor sharp, cutting edge.
Many writers and teachers in the self-empowerment movement have studied with him over the years. His perceptive and quirky way of writing has won him a loyal world-wide following and readership in the millions, yet to some he is a metaphysical showman and merchandiser. You be the judge.
Wilde's books that have sold in the millions, and have been translated into 15 languages. His latest, and the essence of today's chat, is
Grace, Gaia, and the End of Days..
Electropollution from all wireless microwaves, the wiring in walls, cell towers, wireless routers, WiFi networks, etc. is potentially as life threatening to the human body as asbestos, tobacco and lead paint. There are currently more than 4.2 billion cell phone users in the world and 80% of the planet is now wireless.
Children are at greatest risk from cell phone radiation because their brain tissues are still developing. Radiation goes deeper into their brain than adults because their skulls are thinner. And yet kids (especially teenagers) seem to live on the phone.
Some common symptoms are headache, fatigue, insomnia, hearing difficulties, short term memory loss. There is a connection between cell phones and cancer, especially in areas right behind the ear and also the parotid (salivary glands). Switzerland, Sweden and England have implemented boundaries around the use of cell phones for their youngest citizens. Many people use cell phones far too much. Instead of using them selectively, for emergencies and such, people use cell phones to avoid simply planning ahead. Much cell phone use is disruptive instead of helpful.
Virato's guests today, researcher Dr. Carrie Hyman, and author- journalist Marcia Zina Mager are outspoken on the issue.

Asheville is becoming self-sufficient with little clusters forming, reflecting more of a communal consciousness, focused on sustainability, local agriculture and good neighbor socializing. West Asheville, in particular, has become a hot bed of these clusters, and Virato's guest today, Bill Whipple, is one of the defacto focalizers.
Peeing
on plants, and watching them thrive,
hatching duck eggs, running after
swarms of bees down the street,
grafting Asian pears onto a Bradford
pear, throwing garbage in a box and
lifting the lid later to find black
soil, delicious mushrooms covering a
pile of sawdust.. these affirm to
Bill Whipple, that a mystical realm
exists beyond our comprehension.
He and his partner live on a 1/2 acre lot on the
Michigan Avenue Watershed in West
Asheville for and in
5 years transformed it from an
energy consuming, environmental
desert, to a diverse ecosystem. He says, that not
only do they enjoy the wonders and
beauty of their yard, support a
complex diversity of life, but also
delight in its culinary pleasures
now accounting for 75% of the food
they eat.
You can see him selling pears at the
farmers market from organic pear
trees he planted 21 years ago.
Whipple runs Barkslip's
Micronusery where he propagates
and organically raises untold
varieties of obscure, heirloom fruit
trees that are sold and disseminated
to the community. Acting as a
consultant for homeowners, as well
as commercial businesses, he
illustrates that there is a thin
veil between them and abundance.
A few weeks back, during a chat with one of Virato's guests, he used the term "Dumb Redneck" in some context dealing with animal communications. Some people were offended.
This lead to thinking of the impact of the words we use. George Carlin gave us 7 words that cannot be broadcast over the airwaves. Since George C. left us, we have been saddled with countless words that are called "politically incorrect."
Not only do you not hear these on broadcast airwaves, they have even left HBO and public communications in general. It's not the FCC, it's peer pressure, and basic societal dysfunctionality, the collateral affect of continued fear.
That's what Virato says. Do you agree?
How about the misuse of loving and propaganda-laden words used in lies, false seductive romance, or simple deception at the used car lot, etc.

Many adults understand the importance of their dreams. They record their dreams and analyze the symbols. Some even consciously practice skills, rehearse conversations, or use dreams to release traumatic events from their past. Yet when it comes to children, we forget their importance. We push their dreams off as make belief and fantasy as if imagination and exploration are childish. We even say "it's only a dream."
Virato speaks with Denyse Beaudet, PhD who has been a teacher and seminar leader in the field of developmental and Jungian psychology,
and children's dreams for more than 30 years. Dr. Beaudet is
professor of Creativity and Child Development at Laval University in Québec City, Quebec, Canada .Her research with children and dreams demonstrates that kids who are guided through their dream lives learn how to face scary things both in their dream lives and in real life.
The
author of Dreamguider: Open the Door to Your Child's Dreams sheassists

Virato interviews Tom Campbell who researched altered states of consciousness with Bob Monroe (Journeys Out Of The Body, Far Journeys, and The Ultimate Journey) at Monroe Laboratories in the early 1970s where he and a few others were instrumental in getting Monroe's laboratory for the study of consciousness up and running.
This organization was to later be called The Monroe Institute. These early drug-free consciousness pioneers helped design experiments, developed the technology for creating specific altered states, and were the main subjects of study (guinea pigs) all at the same time. Campbell has been experimenting with, and exploring the subjective and objective mind ever since. For the past thirty years, Campbell has been focused on scientifically exploring the properties, boundaries, and abilities of consciousness. Presently, and for the past 20 years, he has been at the heart of developing US missile defense systems for NASA in Huntsville, Alabama.
Campbell is the "TC (physicist)" described in Bob Monroe's second book Far Journeys and has been a serious explorer of the frontiers of reality, mind, consciousness, and psychic phenomena since the early 1970s. My Big TOE is a model of existence and reality that is based directly on Campbell's scientific research and first hand experience. It represents the results and conclusions of thirty years of careful scientific exploration of the boundaries and contents of reality from both the physical and metaphysical viewpoints. Campbell approaches his explorations without bias or preconceived notions. There is no belief system, dogma, or creed at the root of My Big TOE. By demanding high quality repeatable, empirical, evidential data to separate what's real (exists independently and externally) from what's imaginary or illusory; Campbell has scientifically derived this general model of reality. By the way, TOE is an acronym for Theory Of Everything.
Virato interviews Dr. Roger Nelson, a professionally trained experimental psychologist, with a background and broad range of experience in physics, statistical methods, and multi-media production. He served as a counterintelligence officer in the US Army in Germany, then earned a PhD in cognitive psychology, focusing on the lesser known aspects of perception.
He was a tenured professor at Johnson State College in Vermont until 1980 when he moved to Princeton University to take a position as research coordinator in the Princeton Engineering Anomalies Research (PEAR) Laboratory. He retired from the University in 2002, but continues an intense engagement with consciousness research in his role as the director of the Global Consciousness Project which he founded in 1997.
The Global Consciousness Project (GCP) is an international scientific collaboration recording continuous parallel data sequences from physical random sources located around the world. The resulting database is assessed for correlations with physical and social variables. Special times like the celebrations of New Years, and tragic events like the attacks on September 11, 2001, show changes that apparently are linked to shared periods of deep engagement or widespread emotional reactions. They have conducted a series of over 275 formal tests predicting statistical deviations in data collected during events that evoke mass consciousness. The results for ten years of continuous running indicate a highly significant correlation, with odds on the order of 10 million to one against chance.
Virato's guest today, Paul Quinn, says he transforms the Tarot from fortune-telling into a self help tool for intuitive guidance, empowerment, and well-being. Quinn says he presents the Tarot as a lifelong tool to access inner wisdom, which can be applied to gain insights and guidance in relationships, career, family, and personal growth.
Drawing on esoteric, spiritual, and psychological principles, Quinn shows how the Tarot can reveal unconscious beliefs and offer soul-directed advice leading to positive changes and greater well-being.
Quinn discusses the pitfalls of using the cards for prediction. While not denying the tarot’s forecasting capabilities, he warns that anticipating outcomes – especially unwanted ones – can have a disempowering effect, leading to worry, despair, or resignation.
Instead he advocates using the cards to discover how the power of one’s current beliefs, emotions and actions determine the future.

Virato chats with representatives of the The Firefly Gathering. They say the gathering is for people seeking to deepen and expand their connection with the natural world. There will be over 100 classes available focusing on self-sufficiency and wilderness skills taught by over 40 masterful teachers from around the region and country. It offers learning for adults and children, evening entertainment, and on-site camping.
Featured instructors include:
Peace Weaver, Janell Kapoor,, Juliet Blankespoor,. Doug Elliott,Hawk Hurst..Alan Muskat, and
Erik Vosteen
His name is George, and he, well in your world words/thoughts,, ended his own life 25 years ago. He now claims to tell you all about it through his niece, Karen. He says, " more people are getting caught in the illusion of this earth drama and choose to take their own lives," George goes on to tell us all sorts of exciting things like about "Emerald City."
Virato chats with
Karen Pebbles today about her book ...and her uncle. Interesting: the notion of suicide.
Listeners are urged to call in, especially anyone who has had someone close to them take their lives.
Virato, as always, does not ask you to believe what you hear, only to experience it. Candy for the mind and soul....
Karen Peebles says she is a simple widow and mother living in the Ozark Mountains
Are events destined, or merely random? Did Jesus preach about reincarnation? Imagine there's no heaven above, no hell below., as Virato chats with author Don Schorn and his take on the subject.
Schorn has studied cosmology, paleoanthropology, geology, and archaeology, along with extensive analysis of ancient records and sacred texts. The author of five books, four of these non-fiction works, including the trilogy collectively known as the Journals of the Ancient Ones, which introduces the Elder Gods theory that reveals Earth's primordial development and the emergence of humankind.
The author's other non-fiction work, Reincarnation…Stepping Stones of Life, the subject of today's discussion, is an enlightening examination of the reincarnation concept and its implementation as a way-of-life. Schorn's first fictional work is his Emerging Dawn novel, which details a near-future global search for ancient artifacts that are connected with the Mayan End-Time prophecy anticipated to occur on December 21, 2012

Virato's guest, Robin Robertson, has spent a life-time in bridging the worlds of psychology, science, business and the arts. He's a clinical psychologist, university professor and writer who has published fourteen books. He teaches psychology to graduate students as an Associate Professor at the California Institute of Integral Studies. Robertson has separate undergraduate degrees in mathematics and English literature, as well as an M.A. in counseling psychology, and a Ph.D. in clinical psychology.
Robertson's books, often on Jungian psychology or the relationship between psychology and science, have gone through multiple printings, new editions, and foreign translations. Since 1986, he's been editor of the Jungian journal Psychological Perspectives
He was heavily involved with the applications of chaos theory in psychology as a writer, editor, speaker, and officer of the Society for Chaos Theory in Psychology and the Life Sciences. And, in more recent years, he's been a consulting editor and contributor for the cybernetics journal Cybernetics & Human Knowing (a journal that looks at deep issues about the nature of reality).
Dr. Robertson is a life-time amateur magician, and a member of the Order of Merlin of the International Brotherhood of Magicians,
Virato's guest, Lierre Keith says we’ve been told that a vegetarian diet can feed the hungry, honor the animals, and save the planet. She believed in a plant-based diet, and spent twenty years as a vegan.
But in The Vegetarian Myth, she argues that we’ve been led astray--not by our longings for a just and sustainable world, but by our ignorance. The truth is that agriculture is a relentless assault against the planet, and more of the same won’t save us.
In service to annual grains, humans have devastated prairies and forests, driven countless species extinct, altered the climate, and destroyed the topsoil--the basis of life itself. Keith argues that if we are to save this planet, our food must be an act of profound and abiding repair: it must come from inside living communities, not be imposed across them.
Lierre Keith is a writer, small farmer, and radical feminist activist. She is the author of two novels, as well as a work of nonfiction, The Vegetarian Myth: Food, Justice, and Sustainability (2009, Flashpoint Press). She is currently co-writing a book with Derrick Jensen and Aric McBay about strategy for the environmental movement, and is also working on a young adult fantasy novel. She splits her time between Northampton, MA and Humboldt County, CA.

Virato chats with author Julia Hanson, who claims to communicate telepathically with ascended masters and the angelic realm. She especially enjoys working with Indigo and Crystal children. Hanson spends most of her time communicating with her spirit guides, working with clients, and traveling around the country speaking at metaphysical conferences. Her background, like Dan Millman's, includes being a world class gymnast. She is also a nationally placed diver, and equestrian show horse jumper.
Her new book is entitled Awakening to Your Creation, and is the subject of today's discussion.
Morgana Rae,, Virato's guest, says she is a mythologist. Trained in Neuro Linguistic Programming and hypnosis, she draws on these skills and 20 years in the entertainment industry to create fun, dynamic exercises that captivate audiences. Calling herself a life coach, she says it's about conscious transformation, not simply showmanship.
Rae says she guides clients to attract more than they chase, suggesting they enjoy success without sacrificing their humanity. As a leading expert on wealth manifestation, Rae is a popular speaker and frequent television and radio guest. She delivers keynote addresses and breakout sessions at expos and conferences from Los Angeles to Oslo. Called the “Money Magic Queen,” her articles have appeared in over 50 countries worldwide.

Everyone knows how to prevent osteoporosis, right? Drink plenty of milk. Eat cheese and yogurt. And take a calcium supplement. This is the familiar “calcium theory of osteoporosis”—endorsed by the nation’s leading health experts.
Only it’s simply not true says
Virato's guest today, Amy Joy Lanou, Ph.D., assistant professor of health and wellness at the University of North Carolina, Asheville. She, and noted medical journalist Michael Castleman, reviewed 1,200 studies dealing with risk factors for osteoporosis to write Building Bone Vitality, a book that proves the calcium theory wrong and presents a more sensible, scientifically credible explanation of what causes osteoporosis and how to prevent it.
Amy Joy Lanou, Ph.D., is an assistant professor of health and wellness at the University of North Carolina, Asheville. She has taught nutrition at Cornell University and Ithaca College. She is the co author, with Michael Castleman, of Healthy Eating for Life for Children and
She has written or delivered more than 50 scientific articles, reports, and presentations, with an emphasis on bone health and the benefits of low-acid eating. In 2005, she testified before the committee that revised the USDA Food Pyramid, and urged them to embrace the low-acid approach. They did not.
Dr. Lanou is also a senior nutrition scientist for the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting preventive medicine through good nutrition. Dr. Lanou received her B.S. in Nutrition Science from the University of California at Davis (1985) and her Ph.D. in Human Nutrition from Cornell University (1994).
Born of an American Catholic mother and Iranian Moslem father, Virato's guest today, Patti Panahi, was unsure about who she was. The adults in her childhood, those who might have helped, left her more confused than enlightened. After exploring various religions and traditions -- none of which truly spoke to her soul -- she questioned if there really was a God. Not finding answers that satisfied her, she became an agnostic.
.
When she was 28, she developed cancer. Feeling that she had a brush with death propelled Panahi to question her purpose in life, as well as her sense of place in the world. She began a search for a spirituality that would make sense to her logical, analytical mind. After surviving the cancer, she began to relive the pain of being abandoned by her mother at nine and forced to relocate to Iran.
.
Years later, following a vivid dream, Panahi opened The Light Spot bookstore and coffeehouse in San Diego. There she encountered a host of fascinating people who prompted her to question her beliefs about herself and her assumptions about others. As Panahi grew spiritually, the gap between her and her Persian husband widened. In 1989 she left her husband and guided by visions and her inner voice, moved to the Big Island of Hawaii. For the next two years,
Panahi
danced in a hula halau and joined women's spirituality groups. Her intuition and desire for a life partner she says guided her to meet and later marry her soul-mate, Mark Coates. Together they began a new life.
.
In 2002,
Panahi
had a new crisis of faith when she was suddenly afflicted with Bell's Palsy, a paralysis of one side of the face. With both traditional and holistic treatments, she was able to recover 60-70% of her facial muscles. More facial surgery helped her to continue the healing. With this health crisis, she says she realized that she had to get off the fence, face her doubts and fears, and fully commit to her spiritual path and higher purpose in life, however it may unfold.
Rooted and happy in Hawaii, her life is shaken up once again when she receives inner guidance to let go of her career as a university program director, and become a writer. In spite of her doubts and fears, and after much inner conflict and soul searching, she published God Outside the Box: A Story of Breaking Free. Patti says, "A spiritual life is not about complacency and comfort and self-satisfaction, but the ability to accept and flow with change."
.
Today she is finishing her novel Veil of Walls about a young feisty New Englander who grows up in pre-revolution Iran. "To be a full time writer is strange after 34 years in the workaday world, but I'm following my inner guidance to do this and that ALWAYS works out in the end."
Patti Panahi and her partner Mark enjoy life both in Hilo, Hawaii and Sedona, Arizona while also living with their cat, Pixie

Virato interviews Larry Dossey, MD
best-selling
author and an advocate of the role of the mind in health, and the role of spirituality in healthcare.
Graduating with honors from the University of Texas at Austin, Dr. Dossey worked as a pharmacist while earning his MD degree from Southwestern Medical School in Dallas in 1967. Before completing his residency in internal medicine, he served as a battalion surgeon in Vietnam, where he was decorated for valor.
The author of nine books Dr. Dossey is the former Executive Editor of the peer-reviewed journal Alternative Therapies in Health and Medicine. He has lectured all over the world, including major medical schools and hospitals in the United States --Harvard, Johns Hopkins, Cornell, the Universities of Pennsylvania, California, Washington, Texas, Florida, Minnesota, and the Mayo Clinic.
Before his book Healing Words was published in 1993, only three U.S. medical schools had courses devoted to exploring the role of religious practice and prayer in health; currently, nearly 80 medical schools have instituted such courses, many of which utilize Dr. Dossey's works as textbooks. In his 1989 book Recovering the Soul, he introduced the concept of "non-local mind" -- mind unconfined to the brain and body, mind spread infinitely throughout space and time. Since then, "non-local mind" has been adopted by many leading scientists as an emerging image of consciousness.
Scott Blum is the author and co-founder of DailyOM, a popular, spiritually-based website with close to a million subscribers. As a pioneer in the interactive Internet entertainment industry, Blum's career began as a software developer. By the time he was 18 he was providing software for the Commodore 64. He then went on to work for Capcom in Japan as one of the first American Nintendo programmers. Blum also worked for Sega and Taito and created over 15 video games for the Nintendo and Sega game machines, some of which have sold millions of copies.
Blum was hired to work at Starwave by Paul Allen, co-founder of Microsoft. While there, he produced Peter Gabriel's critically acclaimed "Eve" CD-ROM, which was the recipient of the prestigious Milia d'Or award for excellence in CD-ROM production. He founded and was president of iMusic in 1995, the original pioneer of netcasting and one of the first sites to bridge the legitimate music industry with the Internet.
Blum worked with such bands as Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Smashing Pumpkins, No Doubt, and Ben Harper. It was the largest music community on the Internet, paving the way for other online communities like MySpace.
In 2004 he and his wife Madisyn Taylor founded DailyOM to merge their personal interests in spirituality with their professional lives.
Blum's personal interest in metaphysics and spirituality has been an ongoing pursuit since an early age. Decidedly non-traditional, he has found himself in remarkably unique metaphysical situations that he has begun to share in his series of books. His latest, and the subject of today's chat, is Waiting for Autumn published by Hay House.
Scott lives in the mountains of Ashland, Oregon with his wife, business partner and soul mate. Madisyn Taylor author of the DailyOM Book.

Virato speaks with Eliot Cowan, best-selling author of Plant Spirit Medicine: The Healing Power of Plants and founder of theBlue Deer Center. Cowan has gained acclaim by invoking the spirits of plants to support his clients’ healing. In doing this he rediscovered the ancient practice of Plant Spirit Medicine. Cowan works in the United States, Europe and with the Huichol people of Mexico. He studied and practiced under the late Don Guadalupe Gonzalez Rios, a gifted and legendary Huichol Indian Healer.
The process of Plant Spirit Medicine teaches us how to utilize the essence of plants for healing of the mind, body and spirit.
Humans and plants have shared this planet for eons, “We are family,” expresses Cowan. “Using our plant kinship as medicine can nurture and heal us in a spiritual and transformative manner. Plant Spirit Medicine encourages and asks us to look at the plant-to earth-and plant-to-human and human-to plant relationship as we have not explored before. We are asked to expand our reality to where healing has a free flowing path."

Sunscreens, energy drinks and high-tech clothing are just a few of the 800-plus consumer products made with nanomaterials: those manufactured at the scale of atoms and molecules. Sunscreen that turns clear on the skin contains titanium dioxide, an ordinary UV-blocker in extraordinarily small particles. Odor-eating socks are made with atoms of germ-killing silver. Supplement makers boast of amazing health effects from swallowing nanosolutions that are completely untested for effectiveness or safety.
Nobody -- not even the world's leading nanoscientists -- knows what nanoparticles do inside the body or in the environment.
Nanotechnology, a fast-growing global industry, is essentially unregulated. "This is basically virgin territory," says Rutgers University environmental scientist Paul Lio. "The fact that it's virgin territory is not good for the field, and it should be fixed really quickly."
Advocates and independent scientists agree that we need to get ahead of the risks before it's too late. They are worried about unleashing a powerful new technology that could have vast unintended consequences.
Virato chats with Alan Briskin, Ph.D., co-founder of theCollective Wisdom Initiative Dr Briskin. His first book, The Stirring of Soul in the Workplacewas credited with helping shape the spirit and work movement in the late 1990’s. In workshops and conference settings, he has given keynotes or facilitated dialogues on the human aspects of leadership and the role of spirit in groups. He has been invited to speak on his work throughout the United States, as well as in Canada, England, and South Africa. He has a doctorate from the Wright Institute in Berkeley, CA and is a Professional Associate of the Grubb Institute in London.
In 1971, Briskin was part of an international community in Israel, founded on the principals of the communal kibbutz. As an educator, he helped in the start up and development of a free school in Maine and was the first Director of Education for the Vermont group home that became the model program for deinstitutionalization of confined youth. His interest in alternative educational settings continued for over 10 years as the principal consultant to the George Lucas Educational Foundation.
His work with human potential and organizational learning continued as a specialist in prison reform and health care. He was the first person to research emerging theories of moral development with prison inmates and led a model program aiding inmates to bridge the chasm between cell block and useful employment. In the 1980’s he was the one of the first organizational consultants to work with senior leadership in the Federal Bureau of Prisons. As a health care consultant in the mid 1990’s, he helped design programs for practicing physicians to deepen their communication skills with patients. He is a founding member of the Relationship Centered Care Network.
Briskin is also author of Daily Miracles: Stories and Practices of Humanity and Excellence in Health Care and his latest,The Power of Collective Wisdom

Marie D. Jones, Virato's guest today, is the author of numerous paranormal books and spent fifteen years as a field investigator for the Mutual UFO Network in Los Angeles and San Diego, and wrote for many paranormal magazines. Her interest in both science and the paranormal goes back to childhood, as has her passion for writing and storytelling. She also worked in the entertainment industry for over 15 years, at Warner Bros. Records, United Artists Films, Omega Entertainment, and other film companies in Los Angeles
She is now working with Larry Flaxman, President and Senior researcher for ParaExplorers. Their first book published this past February was 11:11 The Time Promptand their latest just released The Resonance Key: Exploring the Links Between Vibration, Consciousness and the Zero Point Grid the subject of today's discussion.
Jones has appeared on hundreds of radio shows all over the world, including Coast To
Coast
AM
and NPR, and she has been interviewed for dozens of magazines, newspapers and websites. This is her second appearance on VIRATO LIVE! The first was on August 2, 2008. Listen Here
What on earth is the truth about crop circles? Learn more today as Virato chats with documentary film producer, Suzanne Taylor, of Mighty Companions, Inc., which produces projects and events related to the transformation of consciousness and our worldview, brings together an international community of scientists, philosophers, geometers, educators, artists and farmers, gathered in England, who are crop circle experts and enthusiasts.
These insiders, privy to every aspect of this misunderstood phenomenon, were filmed over six summers in Europe. This resulted in provocative material that questions the fundamental assumptions we make about who we are and what we are doing here, all captured in What on Earth?: Inside the Crop Circle Mystery. The superstars of the film are the extraordinarily beautiful and geometrically complex crop formations that have been appearing all over the world for hundreds and perhaps thousands of years.
The film tracks Suzanne’s interactions with the British “croppies” as they go circle chasing, indulge in thought provoking analyses, and share their life-changing fascination with the circles. Evidence is presented that defies the idea that the circles all are made by earthlings, and the possible motives of the hoaxers is debated. Some astounding revelations emanate from the mathematical information encoded in the crop formations.
Something that thinks has placed these formations in the landscape, where many of them are in careful alignment with ancient sacred sites. No technological methods can account for what does this or how they were created— not to mention analyses of plants and soil from the circles
show biological and chemical changes that cannot be explained. Something that isn’t us is trying to get our attention…
Taylor writes, "If we knew for sure that a non-human intelligence was engaging with us, it would evoke a shift in our worldview. It would be a change as monumental as when Galileo proved that Earth was not the center of the universe."
Taylor was Executive Producer of the award-winning feature documentary, CROP CIRCLES: Quest for Truth, which, in 2003, won the same EBE Award from the UFO Congress. Her longstanding blog, Making Sense of These Times, explore the consciousness in which we have created our problematic world, and how a shift in our worldview can address the global
challenges we now face: http://www.TheConversation.org.
Earlier this year at the annual UFO Conference and Film Festival, What on Earth? won the EBE Award for “Best Feature Documentary.” In April, What on Earth? was shown at the XConference in Washington, D.C. to address the politics and implications of UFO/ET issues. Taylor also presented the film in England last month at a screening at the Glastonbury Symposium, the world's ;argest annual crop circle conference.

During this hour Debi Athos, founder of Organicfest and Leslie Simon, her assistant, tell us about the vision of Organicfest 2009 happening next week in Asheville. How do we know that a product or company is really "green." What are some of the latest things happening in the organic food, etc. world?
Virato's guest today, Ray DiZazzo, is an award-winning writer, producer, and director with many years of experience in the corporate venue. He is President of DiZazzo Communications, an independent media company that has created programs for large corporations such as J.D. Power and Associates, GTE, and the United Way.
In addition to his corporate media work, DiZazzo, has written a work of fiction, in the style of Celestine Prophecy, and other memorable consciousness message fiction. He says he is not an atheist, nor a religious person either. A large part of his novel is about two people who cross a natural bridge and undergo spiritual and physical transformations. He says some readers might feel that this story is an affront to organized religions. DiZazzo says that traditional religions are largely invalid because they are not based on the real truths that surround us. Instead, they’re based on rituals and legends that, at one time, were able to satisfy our desire for purpose and the need to accept our mortality. My theory is that we’ve matured enough as a race of people to face, and in fact embrace, the realities of our existence. Religious dogma assumes humans are the centerpiece of all existence – we are special and blessed because we were created by God in his image. I don’t believe we’re special at all – in that way.
By the time she was 14, Virato's guest today, Annette Sassou, had survived two murder attempts which intensified her connection to the spirit realm.
She says she has dedicated her life to help others to gain insight into the life altering wisdom of the spirit realm and her fans come from all over the world. She states that her work is channeled from Spirit, which, she says allows her to touch the hearts of her audience.
Sassou says that everyone is capable of making this divine connection and that her purpose is to assist along the way.
“The true Teacher and Healer is Spirit – I am just the Messenger,” is her answer when people ask her how she explains the profound impact her work leaves on her audience and clients.
Annette was born in a small town in Germany and the intuitive and healing abilities in her family go back 4 generations. Many members of her family have dedicated their lives to helping others with their gift.
Sassou is also the author of a channeled book, Portals to Spirit: Transition 2012, How to Prepare for the Shift in 2012, the topic of today's discussion.

Virato's guest today, Thomas Walker, DC, is a modern Renaissance man. An authority on alternative healthcare and science, he is a chiropractic physician, master level martial artist, former US Army Green Beret, professor of natural science, artist, musician and author. He lives in the Great Smoky Mountains of Tennessee, where he teaches kung fu, practices alternative medicine, and continues his investigation into New Science and spiritual phenomena.
Walker graduated Magna cum Laude from Life Chiropractic College in 1986 and cum Laude at Excelsior College in1999. He is a member of the Blue Key National Honor Society, University of New Mexico and the Pi Tau Delta, International Chiropractic Honor Society. He also belongs to the U.S. Army Special Forces Association and the Kajukenbo Self-Defense Institute, Inc., where he holds a sixth degree black belt and is a chief instructor. Tom Walker is 32° Master Mason in Cherokee Lodge 728 of Free & Accepted Masons.
Virato's guest is Diane Sullivan who received her BA, magna cum laude, from Fitchburg State College, and her Doctor of Jurisprudence, magna cum laude, from Massachusetts School of Law Andover, MA, where she is currently a professor of law. She teaches business law, Issues Impacting Women, and Animal Law. In addition, Professor Sullivan serves as moderator and Producer of MSLAW’s Educational Forum television series..
She has been a vice president of, and lawyer for, a large financial institution in Worcester, Massachusetts and is now an avid animal rights activist. Ms. Sullivan created an Animal Law program at the school, teaching a course and hosting a symposium to educate the public about animal law issues. She serves on the Board of ARC The Animal Rights Coop in Massachusetts sponsored by the Massachusetts School of Law
Sullivan is co-editor of Please, Can We Keep the Donkey? a new bookfeaturing dozens of personal accounts of successful animal adoptions and rescues. These entertaining stories describe rewarding relationships with animals ranging from dogs and cats to birds, a snake, and, of course, a donkey. Meet a rabbit who is an architect, dogs too ugly to pet, an orphaned cat who bonds with an orphaned girl, an unruly dog who brings aid to senior citizens, and many other animals whose lives have changed the people who took them in. These delightful and heartwarming stories of individuals who find each other and bring joy to one another's lives pose the question that one contributor asks: "Who rescued whom?"
Until the summer of her fiftieth year, Virato's guest today, Jan Frazier, lived a life typical for a well-educated, middle-class American woman. A divorced mother of two teenagers, she was making a modest living writing and teaching writing. Following a traditional Catholic childhood in Miami in the 1960s, she moved to New England, where she was active in the peace movement. But the inner peace she sought always eluded her.
Then, in August 2003, she experienced a radical transformation of consciousness. Fear fell away from her, and she was immersed in a state of causeless joy that has never left her. While she has continued her life as writer, teacher, and mother, she has discovered it is possible to live a richly human life free of suffering. Her wish she says is to communicate the truth that within every person is a pool of calm well-being that waits patiently to be stirred to life.
When Fear Falls Away: The Story of a Sudden Awakening is Frazier's day-by-day account of the shift in consciousness and its alteration of her life.
She says her inspiration has been Gurumayi, Krishnamurti, and Eckhart Tolle, but that the joy she lives in belongs to no particular tradition, and is available to all.
Virato's guest, Jim Self, has been leading seminars and teaching healing, clairvoyance and personal energy management courses since 1980 and is the founder of Mastering Alchemy.
Since childhood, he says he has retained a conscious awareness and ability to recall his experiences within the sleep state. Over the last ten years, this awareness, he states, has expanded into relationships with the "Archangels, Ascended Masters and Teachers of Light." The tools and information presented in the Mastering Alchemy programs is a co-creation of these relationships.
Self walks with a foot in both worlds. At the age of twenty-six, he was elected to his first of two terms to the San Jose, CA City Council and later became the Vice Mayor. Before completing his second term, he was asked by President Jimmy Carter to be an advisor and the Director of Governmental Operations for the Dept. of Energy.
As an entrepreneur, he has successfully built and sold two corporations, and is the founder and current Board Chairman of a third.
A guided meditation, local announcements, world cultural creative news... Virato then reads from his favorite book by Richard Oddo, and he opens the lines to callers. Always pleasant probing conversation
For nearly 3 decades, Virato's guest Teena Booth, has been a new age advocate, ever since her exposure to Shirley MacLain and MacLaine's book Out on A Limb.. She is a 45-year-old mother of three and writer of novels (Falling From Fire), TV movies (A Little Thing Called Murder, Fab Five, Sex & Lies in Sin City, Natalee Holloway, The Wronged Man).
She was born and raised in Los Angeles, the oldest child of news reporter and actress, the very beautiful Carol McEvoy.
Her writing skills landed her jobs as a journalist, then editor of a trade magazine, on to editor of a legal newspaper. She sold her first novel, Falling From Fire, to Random House in 2002. That same year, her screenplay Showstopper -- a script she wrote to come to terms with the suicide of her very beautiful mother -- won a Chesterfield Screenwriting Fellowship. She spent a year commuting back and forth to L.A., learning the art of screenwriting. Not long afterward, she got her first assignment from Lifetime Television to adapt a true-crime book into a script, and a TV movie writing career was launched..
Her passion is now a revival of the New Age movement, and her new book, Unfinished Evolution, is the subject of today's discussion.
Virato's guest, Marshall Vian Summers, says he was sent into the world to receive a New Message from God.
He says he was ignited spiritually at an early age, especially through his experiences in nature. As a young man, he journeyed through the wilderness of North America where he states he continued his mysterious education. During this time he says he experienced an Inner Voice that guided him.
In 1982, at the age of 33, he claims he had a direct encounter with the Unseen Ones, the Angelic Presence who had been guiding and preparing him all along. This encounter he says forever altered the course of his life and initiated him into a deeper relationship with them, requiring that he surrender his life to God.
Soon after this encounter, Summers says knew he had to leave his students and his teaching, his relationships and his home in the city to wander again. His wandering led him to retreat in the desert of the American Southwest where he says the Angelic Presence came to him again and he began receiving God’s New Message for humanity.
Summers is the author of several books, the latest Great Waves of Change: Navigating the Difficult Times Ahead, the subject of today's interview
Todd Crowe has a B.A. in Childhood Education from the University of Hawaii. He also attended the Waldorf Teacher Training in Eugene Oregon. Following the training, Todd worked for two years at the Waldorf School of Pittsburgh. During the second year Todd taught the combined fourth/fifth grade class. His class graduated from the school and he is now part of the Grow With Me Co-Op here in Asheville. He is also working with fellow community members on starting the Asheville Waldorf school. They will open their doors next fall. In his spare time, Todd likes to play the ukulele, sing and ride his mountain bike (though, not all at the same time). Call in 252-4348

Virato's guest, Russell Targ, is a physicist and author who was a pioneer in the development of the laser and laser applications, and was co-founder of the Stanford Research Institute's investigation into psychic abilities in the 1970s and 1980s for the CIA. This previously classified work, in what is now widely known as remote viewing, was published in Nature, The Proceedings of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the Proceedings of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
Targ has a B.S. in Physics from Queens College, and did graduate work in physics at Columbia University. He received two NASA awards for inventions and contributions in lasers and laser communications; and invitations were accepted in 1983 and 1984 to present remote viewing demonstrations, and to address the USSR Academy of Sciences on this research. He is author or co-author of eight books dealing with the scientific investigation of psychic abilities, Buddhism, and a recent autobiography.
In 1998 Targ retired from Lockheed Martin Missiles & Space Co. as a senior staff scientist, He now pursues ESP research in Palo Alto, California, and is also publishing special editions of classic books in psychical research

Virato goes to Switzerland (by phone) to speak with Matthias Knöringer, MD and to Niagara, New York with Richard Leo about German mystic and healer Bruno Groening.
The teachings of Bruno Groening are based on the influence that spiritual forces have on incarnate beings. This influence is greater than most people realize.
Bruno Groening compared a person with a battery. He pointed out that everyone burns up vital energy. However, new energy to replace it is often insufficiently absorbed. In the same way that an empty battery is incapable of functioning, a body without energy is also unable to fulfill its tasks. The consequences are: fatigue, exhaustion, nervousness, anxieties and finally, illness.
Bruno Groening’s teachings explain how an individual is able to obtain new energy. To this end, the belief in goodness is as necessary a prerequisite as the will for health. The human body is constantly environed by healing waves which only have to be absorbed. According to Bruno Groening, no illness is incurable, and this fact is confirmed by the healings that have occurred and have been medically verified. These healings are spiritual and therefore independent of Bruno Groening’s physical presence.

Zecharia Sitchin is an internationally acclaimed author and researcher whose books offer evidence that we are not alone in our own solar system.
Sitchin was born in Baku, Azerbaijan (part of the Soviet Union) and raised in Palestine, where he acquired a knowledge of modern European languages and ancient Hebrew, other Semitic languages including Aramaic, and is highly knowledgeable of the Old Testament, and the history and archaeology of the Near East.
Sitchin graduated from the University of London, and is one of a handful of scholars able to read the Sumerian cuneiform tablets He has combined archaeology, ancient texts, and the Bible with the latest scientific discoveries to retell the history and prehistory of mankind and planet Earth.
The archaeological synthesis of the Sumerian scholar, Zecharia Sitchin suggests the "gods" (Sumerian: Annunaki; Egyptian: Neter; Hebrew: Anakim, Nefilim: Elohim) ere part of ancient civilizations that came here from outer space, created humans and gave us civilization, and that they were flesh and blood humanoids from the last planet in our solar system (Nibiru, Planet X) who genetically engineered us as slave animals by splicing their genes with Homo Erectus genes and, eventually, accepted us as limited partners.
His books have been translated into more than twenty languages; his first one, an oft-quoted classic, celebrates the thirtieth anniversary of its publication. A graduate of the University of London and a journalist and editor in Israel for many years, he now lives and writes in New York City.
Virato's guest, Cerridwen Fallingstar, is a shamanic Witch who has taught classes in magic, ritual and metaphysics for thirty years. She gives lectures tying together psychology, spirituality, history, contemporary issues and politics in an entertaining, enlightening and humorous format.
Fallingstar has founded three covens, and an organization called EarthRite which offered public rituals to her Northern California community for a dozen years. She worked closely with Starhawk during the early years of Reclaiming, a ritual and teaching organization based in San Francisco.
Cerridwen says she has had the ability to time-travel, entering alternate realms and distant times at will through the use of shamanic trance (hypnosis) since childhood, . She is the author of The Heart of the Fire an historical novel about Witchcraft in sixteenth century Scotland and her most recent White as Bone Red as Blooda novel set in twelfth century Japan detailing the clash between the Heike and Genji clans which ushered in the Samurai period.
Cerridwen Fallingstar has worked as a journalist for alternative publications and has published hundreds of columns, articles and short stories, some of which have been anthologized. . She received a double Bachelor's degree in English Literature and English Composition from Beloit College in 1974, and a Master's Degree in English Literature from UCLA in 1976.
She has been interviewed extensively by print, radio and television media.
Fallingstar was married to Elie Demers for twenty-five years, until his death in 1996. They have a son who recently graduated from college. She regards her experience of creating a sacred marriage and raising a conscious, healthy young man to be her greatest accomplishments, and while she has studied with spiritual teachers from a wide variety of traditions, including Native American, West African, Tantra, Reiki, Zen, Kundalini Yoga, Wiccan and New Age, she regards her husband and her son as her greatest teachers.
Today's guest says, "All that exists creates sound. The tiniest elements of everything on this planet move, vibrate, and therefore create resonance or sound. This powerful force has the ability to heal and create or confuse and destroy. Once we understand what sound truly is, we have the ability to influence our consciousness as well as our environment."
He continues, "Music is an attempt to arrange sounds and silences. It comes from our innate desire to express and it can evoke a range of emotions from ecstasy to anger. As a sound scientist, I help students listen deeply and experiment with the intangible, even mystical elements of groove and lyricism. The essence of sound is a great joy to me."
Being in the presence of Virato's guest today, River Guerguerian, is a spiritual experience. Watching him perform on percussion one can witness him becoming one withhis instrument.
He has performed world-wide includingNew York's Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and Guggenheim Museum, the Madrid International Jazz Festival, the Edinburgh International Film, Festival among other prestigious international venues
Guerguerian has performed or recorded with the Paul Winter Consort, Chuck Berry, Ziggy Marley, the BBC Concert Orchestra, and many other well-known individuals and groups
Virato probes the mind and soul ofStanislav Grof, MD, Ph.D., a psychiatrist with over forty years research into non-ordinary states of consciousness (induced by psychedelic substances and various non-drug techniques) and one of the founders and chief theoreticians of transpersonal psychology. He was born in Prague, Czechoslovakia, where he also received his scientific training,. an MD degree from the Charles University School of Medicine, and a Ph.D. from the Czechoslovakian Academy of Sciences. Dr. Grof 's early research in the clinical uses of psychedelic substances was conducted at the Psychiatric Research Institute in Prague, where he was Principal Investigator of a program systematically exploring the heuristic and therapeutic potential of LSD and other psychedelic substances. In 1967, he was invited as Clinical and Research Fellow to the Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, MD.
After completion of this two-year fellowship, he stayed in the US and continued his research as Chief of Psychiatric Research at the Maryland Psychiatric Research Center and as Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, MD. He also served on the Board of Trustees of the Esalen Institute.
Dr. Grof is the founder of the International Transpersonal Association (ITA) and its past and current president. In this role, he has organized large international conferences in the United States, the former Czechoslovakia, India, Australia, and Brazil. At present, he lives in Mill Valley, California, conducting training seminars for professionals in Holotropic Breathwork and transpersonal psychology and writing books. He is also Professor of Psychology at the California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS) in San Francisco and at the Pacifica Graduate School in Santa Barbara and gives lectures and seminars worldwide.
Virato's guest was born in Swaziland, Africa where his parents were carving a 35,000 acre sugar and citrus estate out of virgin bushland. Growing up in such a wild and remote part of the world was to influence his character and personality in many ways, but the most enduring effect that time had on me came from being immersed in the supernatural worldview of the tribes people around him.
William Whitecloud says he lived in an enchanted world where a host of entities and elemental forces wrestled each other for control over the fate of every living thing. Life for Whitecloud he says was an endless romp in the Garden of Eden, until he was eight years old, when he was packed off to a succession of Christian orientated boarding schools in the colonial education system. It forcefully impressed on him that his free spirited nature and heathen superstitions were of no value to the socioeconomic machine he was being conditioned to fit into. Ten years later he left school, and in his words was “cured of his innocence and wonder, and thoroughly convinced he had no choice but to find my place within the rational order of Western civilization. But he says his heart was never in it.
He learned the alchemical principles of Hermetic Philosophy and the ideas of Robert Fritz, founder of Technologies For Creating. Both pointed to the premise that we subconsciously create our own reality and that there is a way in which we can direct the subconscious mind to create the reality we choose.
In 1996, inspired by the momentum of my own self-transformation, Whitecloud founded a program called Living From Greatness, a course to empowering participants in discovering and living their authentic nature and potential. Whitecloud says his twenty-year search to discern the essence of what it takes for people to connect with and live from their creative spirit forms the basis of his first book, The Magician's Way, the subject of today's conversation.
Whitecloud lives in Byron Bay, Australia, where he says, he devotes his time to coaching, writing, enjoying his family, and letting life unfold by magic.
Virato chats with Karon Korp, author of the book Remembering Our Spiritual Journey Home–The 12 Keys travels the country inspiring people to find their passion and spiritual purpose in life, lecturing in 40 cities since her book’s release. She says, "As tools for change, The Keys bring a greater realization of how our behavioral patterns, relationship issues and choices manifest themselves in our lives."
She says that after years of kissing frogs, she is happily married to the love of her life, Russ Martin, former two-term Mayor of the City of Asheville, NC. At home, her service is accomplished working, as a Community Consultant and Fundraiser, managing projects and raising money for non-profits and civic organizations. She is a Carl B. Hyatt Award Recipient, a Hixson Fellow, past winner of the “Kiwanian of the Year” Award for service, and in 2006, The Health Adventure’s Volunteer Fundraiser of the Year.
As a traveler to Sacred Sites, she has watched the sunrise from atop the Great Pyramid in Egypt, watched the moon rise at Machu Picchu in Peru, climbed Mayan ruins in Guatemala and Honduras, spoken to the oracles at Delphi, and captured the sun at Haleakala. She is currently working on her next book
He suggests that external circumstances may cause rough times, such as the loss of a loved one, a job situation that didn’t quite work out, or instances where people don’t recognize your unique gifts. There are other rough times that you create. Perhaps you don’t have a firm grasp on what is truly important, or lack direction, or have unanswered questions about the meaning of life and your purpose here on earth.
Stockdale says we should find supportive people who believe in us and our vision. He is active with the Purpose Project Guild, a joint project of the University of Minnesota’s Center for Spirituality & Healing and Richard Leider of the Inventure Group, and shares his gift and passion for purpose with others. Denny is a graduate of Coach for Life, a nationally recognized training program for personal life coaches, and also dabbles in acronyms.
Virato's guest today says, "We are coming to a critical point in human evolution and involution having attained a “critical mass” in our consciousness. In this threshold of understanding and awareness, we can make huge changes and create a difference in our life, our Earth and our worlds beyond. It is time to wake up..."
Born in the former Yugoslavia, Ivan Rados is an internationally recognized artist whose art is part of many European museums and private collections around the world He is also an energy healer and a contemporary spiritual guide and teacher. He is the author of a three books, Create Yourself – Secrets of Self Discovery & Healing with Sacred Geometry, and The Transparent Man-- the Last Anti-manifesto about Transcendental Art, and his latest Health, It's All About Consciousness, the subject of today's discussion.
Using art to search through his own soul, and to assist others in that path, Ivan’s healing process is a story about courage, determination and completion. Rados went through, what he says was, "the most profound spiritual transmutation that completely disintegrated my old identity, altering my perception of myself."
He now uses his art (the Sacred Geometry) solely in the process of healing and spiritual guidance. While he claims he heals no-one; but merely helps people heal themselves by the power of “Infinite Consciousness," his healing journey reads like a book of miracles.
Rados says he is not associated with any particular healing modularity and methodology, spiritual movement, religion or tradition. He claims that his deep and authentic rooting in the unknown provides him the insight and ability to be of service to the evolution of Consciousness in these most transformative of times.
Ivan Rados travels extensively, teaching and facilitating classes, seminars and healing/spiritual retreats. He has lived in Vancouver, Canada, since 2001.

Could the marriage of science and spirituality answer the deepest mysteries of our past, while solving the problems that threaten our future? A growing body of evidence suggests that the answer to this question is an empowering “YES!”
Virato's guest today is New York Times Best selling author Gregg Braden who has been a featured guest for international conferences and media specials exploring the power of science and spirituality.
A former Senior Computer Systems Designer for Martin Marietta Aerospace, Computer geologist for Phillips Petroleum, and the Technical Operations Manager for Cisco Systems, Braden is considered a pioneer in bridging the wisdom of our past with the science, healing and peace of our future.
For more than 20 years Gregg has searched high mountain villages, remote monasteries, ancient temples, and forgotten texts to uncover their timeless secrets. His search led to the 2004 release of his paradigm-shattering book, The God Code, revealing words of the ancient message coded into the DNA of all life.
Since 1998 Braden's journeys into the monasteries of central Tibet revealed a forgotten form of prayer that was lost during the biblical edits of the early Christian Church. In his book, Secrets of the Lost Mode of Prayer, he documents this mode of prayer that has no words or outward expression, yet gives us direct access to the quantum force that connects all things.
Max Bolka, Virato's guest this morning, along with Deepak Chopra and others, is co-author of Success Is a State of Mind:Building a Foundation for Your Future. Bolka is also the author of Spirituality & Business for Entrepreneur, and his been into financial consulting for some 27 years. In his work, Bolka uses his spiritual path of Ayurvedic tradition in conjunction with his business acumen.
Early in his financial career, Bolka realized that money cuts across all areas of life. He started becoming more involved with his clients, and later with other financial advisors, teaching them about such diverse matters as goal setting, finding one’s passion, purpose and meaning in life, careers, personal and professional relationships, effective communication, time and stress management, improving one's health, and of course, how to build long lasting wealth.
Virato's guest is William Gladstone, author of The Twelvea novel about 2012.
The year 2012 has been recognized as the end of the Mayan calendar. Ancient legends from the Hopi, the Tibetan shamans, and others who tap into the wisdom of the ancient worlds or myths of Lemuria and Atlantis, all point to 2012 as the beginning or the end of life as humanity has lived it over the past several thousand years. Many of us feel that huge changes are at hand.
Gladstone has worked with some of the most respected and influential authors of our time, including Eckhart Tolle, Deepak Chopra, Barbara Marx Hubbard, and others. As a pioneer in the publishing industry, he contributed to the creation of the first print-on-demand book publishing company.
Throughout his career, William has also worked with prominent visionaries, including Tom Anderson, founder of Myspace; Peter Norton, founder of Norton Computing; and Linus Torvalds, creator of the Linux operating system.
Gladstone attended Yale College and earned a graduate degree in cultural anthropology from Harvard University. He resides in Cardiff-by-the-Sea, California
Virato's guest today is Michael Jawer. “In its zealousness to explore the brain, contemporary neuroscience is missing the boat – namely the body,” asserts emotion researcher Michael Jawer in The Spiritual Anatomy of Emotion. “Of even greater importance than the brain is the degree of connectedness between head, heart, and all the bodily systems. That’s the real key to personality, and to the quality of our lives.”
Jawer has spent the past 10 years delving into the subject of how bodily feeling underlies consciousness – and how the energy of feelings plays an integral role in immunity, stress reactions, and numerous psychosomatic conditions, Most startlingly, he and his coauthor, Marc Micozzzi, MD, PhD, argue that paranormal perception -- apparitions, telepathy, poltergeist disturbances, and ‘out of body’ experience -- also arises from distortions in the way individuals process feeling. “Although they have long resisted explanation, each of these phenomena involves a discernable pattern and is amenable to scientific inquiry,” Jawer posits.
Jawer has, over the last twenty years, written on diverse subjects for trade and professional associations as well as the Federal government. Quoted in the Wall Street Journal and New York Times, he has even composed remarks delivered verbatim by a sitting U.S. President.
Jawer has diligently applied this strength in the development of The Spiritual Anatomy of Emotion. Sifting through reams of research in disciplines ranging from biology to anthropology, he consulted with numerous scientific authorities and conducted his own research – findings that have been published in a trio of peer-reviewed journals. The result is an entirely fresh take on the mind, on emotion, on immunity -- on all the elements that make us sentient and, indeed, human.
Dena Saxer, Virato's guest, has been practicing and teaching the Universal Tao system since 1983. She has studied extensively with Universal Tao founder Mantak Chia. Saxer founded the Toronto Universal Tao Centre and was certified by Chia to teach. Wearing her other hat, as a writer, Dena co-wrote two books with Chia: Taoist Ways to Transform Stress into Vitality and Chi Self-Massage. The first one became one of his best selling books. She is currently co-writing a new mainstream book with him on emotional health.
In 1985, Dena moved to the Los Angeles area, where she is the only Certified Universal Tao Instructor in Southern California who teaches the "classic" UT curriculum on a regular basis.
Victor was the first director of its India Studies program and is a past Chair of the Psychology Department, at Sonoma State. Zen Master Jakusho Kwong-Roshi, abbot of Sonoma Mountain Zen Center, has been his meditation teacher and a role model for several decades.
Victor Daniels received his MA and PhD from UCLA where he studied with both scientifically- and clinically-oriented faculty. He is interested in both Western and Eastern philosophies and spiritual traditions, and has taught meditation in workshops and courses for 35 years. Skilled in Gestalt Therapy, he has served as program chair for two international Gestalt conferences. With his colleague Laurence J. Horowitz, he co-authored Being and Caring: A Psychology for Living.
Kooch Daniels studied with Aryuvedic master Harish Johari for 20 years. Johari was a jnana yogi and Tantric scholar who practiced forms of meditation carried out amid daily life activities. She obtained her BA from Ohio University, and her MA from Sonoma State University with concentrations in Humanistic and Jungian Psychology. She has been working as a professional intuitive throughout her life, guiding both private and corporate clients working with meditation, visualization, and affirmations. She is the senior co-author, with Victor Daniels, of Tarot d’Amour,
They are sometime called "gypsy" travelers and live in Sonoma County, California.
Virato's guest today, Elmdea Bean says her spiritual journey began in the mid 1960's when she read Black Elk Speaks. In the early 70's, she experienced her first past life regression and was introduced to Jane Robert's Seth materials. She says, "It was a life saver."
Bean hold a B.S. in Human Services from Metropolitan State College, Denver, and is a certified Past Life Therapist through the International Board of Regression Therapy.
She has spent the past 35 years in corporate management, with many Fortune 500 companies. Including upper management in Rubbermaid, and the president of three companies.
Virato's guest today, Len Saputo, MD, is a 1965 graduate of Duke University Medical School, board certified in internal medicine. Dr. Saputo was in private practice in affiliation with John Muir Medical Center in the San Francisco Bay Area for more than 30 years. After his awakening to the deep flaws in conventional medicine which culminated in the early 1990s, Saputo began a quest to develop a new approach to healing now known as integral-health medicine—the emergent medical care model that is integrative, holistic, person-centered, and preventive. In order to further this mission, Dr. Saputo founded the Health Medicine Forum in 1994 and was its director until 2008.
He is the co-author of Boosting Immunity: Creating Wellness Naturally; and his latest A Return to Healing with Byron Belitsos. Dr. Saputo has edited six books, including Beating the Years and Boosting Your Digestive Health; and has authored book chapters on numerous medical and health subjects. He has contributed dozens of articles on a wide range of topics in both mainstream and complementary and alternative medicine to such journals as California Pharmacist, Alternative Medicine, and Townsend Letter. He is also actively engaged in clinical research related to the use of near-infrared light therapy in pain management.
With never-ending support from his wife, Saputo is committed to his life’s purpose of changing the health care system in America from a disease care model to a genuine health care model based on the principles of the new medicine, as well as broad-ranging reform of the manner in which care is financed and delivered.
Virato then opens the lines to listeners to discuss anything and everything. How can we make this planet a better place. Studio

For many years Virato's guest today, Dr. Mark Sircus, has been researching into the human condition and into the causes of disease. His primary focus in recent years has been the study of environmental toxicity and iatrogenic diseases. He has written extensively on the poisons in the environment, in our foods, medicines and dental practices. Dr. Sircus is the director of the International Medical Veritas Association (IMVA), advocating radical changes in orthodox medicine.
Today's program focuses on Sodium Bicarbonate--common baking soda. Baking soda has always been known as a quick remedy for stomach acid imbalances and for cleaning swimming pools and refrigerators. Few know that it is a most useful medicine for the treatment of cancer and kidney disease or to help resolve common colds and to alleviate the symptoms and dangers of influenza.
Dr. Sircus says, "medicine does not have to be complicated and mysterious nor do we have to lay still and be run over by the Hun Hordes of Influenza viruses that the health authorities want us to be so frightened of." His work in Natural Allopathic Medicine represents a revolution in medical thinking laying the groundwork for a future of medicine free from the poisonous rein of pharmaceutical companies. He envisions a future for medicine that is rational, effective and safe.
Sircus has distilled many of the divergent medical systems and paradigms to an essence that provides a roadmap toward a unified medicine that can be practiced by allopath and non allopath alike. He sees the restoration of the Hippocratic spirit in medicine as vital for he feels that without heart, without love medicine will never serve humanity as it desperately needs to be served.
