eople
are being drawn to the little mountain town of
Asheville, in western North Carolina, for myriad reasons --
decent retirement property value (hence our elders), hordes
of talented artists, and the socially flexible and tolerant,
hence more artsy types, hippies, new age aficionados
and visionaries, a large gay/lesbian population, and a
plethora of art galleries, unique restaurants, and an
abundance creative genius. Learn more in our feature story,

And if
you're into 2012 end-times prophecies, this is the place to
be! The town is continually presented in the
media. CBS News did a special "Eye On America" here, calling
Asheville "America's 'new age' Mecca." We made
Rolling
Stone magazine, as freak capital,
The
place is supposed to have more geological vortexes than
anywhere in America...or maybe, as legend says, it's the energy that the
Atlantian and Lemurian scientists implanted here after their
civilization fell into the sea! There are even
rumors
that the Cherokee (with their blue eyes) were
Atlantians. Asheville's mountains tower some
6,800 ft above sea level, the highest point on North America
closest to the Atlantic ocean 
Some 5,000 witches, along
with Christianity's icon, Rev. Billy
Graham,
make this area their home. The
overwhelming majority of folks in the Asheville area were
not born
here. In fact
,long term
natives seem a rarity! Asheville boasts art
galleries pregnant with some of the finest art in the
country, as large as SoHo, and Santa Fe. A budding art
studio community has become the showcase of the trendy river
district of West Asheville which also happens to attract the
young, progressive vegan.
Name
throwing? Ok, Spielberg bought a condo, and Andy
McDowell lives here. And since Asheville is known to be
scandalous, Tiger Woods has a place here. (Asheville's Thomas Wolf, was
ostracized for his Look Howard Angel. After his death
he became the town's namesake.)
OK a few others: Elizabeth Blackwell, America's first
woman medical doctor
started her first practice in Ashe
ville,
and Robert Moog lived in the nearby woods and set up shop
here and creating the beginning of electronic music as
we know it today. A museum to his honor is now being built
in downtown Asheville and scheduled to open early next year.
Gordon Michael Scallion, futurist, and publisher of
Earth Changes, sees this area as
saved from destruction during the coming "end-times,"
and becoming the center of healing and
spirituality for the new "Eastern United States" after the great
cataclysmic divide. It is already happening! Author
James Redfield also refers to this area in his NY Times
bestseller, The Celestine Prophecy
Thousands of conscious people,
holistic healers, "back-to-the-earthers,"
new paradigm thinkers, and
other new age consciousness types have recently made Asheville
